Eko Yuli Gets A Bronze At The 2025 World Championship

JAKARTA Veteran lifter Eko Yuli Irawan managed to bring home a bronze medal from the 2025 Weightlifting World Championship which took place in Forde, Norway.

The 36-year-old weightlifter got bronze from the 65-kilogram snatch number on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Eko was entitled to bronze after succeeding with a snatch of 137 kilograms.

Eko almost came home empty-handed from this prestigious event after his first two attempts failed. He also just succeeded in the third trial.

The owner of the four Olympic medals failed in the first attempt with an lift of 135 kilograms. He then raised the lift of 136 kilograms in the second try and again failed.

The lifter who was born in Metro, Lampung, actually succeeded during his first attempt. However, the jury disallowed his batch because Eko was considered to have carried out an illegal movement.

Eko's total force is actually the same as silver medalist Ivan Petkov Dimov. However, the Bulgarian lifter managed to beat the same weight in his second attempt.

The gold medalist is Muhammed Furkan Ozbek. The athlete from Turkey managed to record an batch of 145 kilograms to stand on the highest podium.

The World Championships in Norway are used as preparation for Eko and his friends to face the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand which will take place on December 9-20.

Eko actually took part with another 65 kilogram class lifter, namely Leonardo Geovani Adventio. However, he could not bring home the medal because he only finished eighth with a snatch of 133 kilograms.
