Untung Jawa Island Village Moves Quickly To Handle DHF Cases
JAKARTA - The Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) case is again a concern in the Thousand Islands region. To prevent the spread of transmission, Pulau Untung Jawa Village, South Thousand Islands District, carried out a series of intensive efforts to prevent and control the disease.
"We took quick steps in the form of mass Mosquito Nest Eradication (PSN) activities, fogging or absorption and community service, which involved all related elements, such as Puskesmas, Jumantik cadres, PKK cadres, RT/RW and others," said Lurah Pulau Untung Jawa Sidartawan in Jakarta, Monday.
He explained that the mass PSN activities were carried out for three consecutive days to suppress the development of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In addition, the sub-district together with the local health center also supervises the condition of residents and conducts epidemiological investigations on Onrust Island as a measure to anticipate the spread of workers who had contracted dengue fever.
Based on the results of the examination, no dengue sufferers were found on Onrust Island. However, the sub-district still cooperates with the Thousand Islands Health Office to strengthen the capacity of Jumantik cadres through skills training.

Sidartawan added that the initial findings showed that the dengue case on Untung Java Island came from people who came from the mainland. Data as of July 2025 recorded that there were patients, but now the person concerned is no longer on the island.
Even though the case is under control, socialization is still intensified to increase public awareness about the dangers of dengue fever. Education is provided on how to transmit, symptoms, and prevention through the PSN movement with the 3M Plus principle which is routinely carried out every Tuesday and Friday.
Local community leader, Robin, appreciates the quick steps of the kelurahan in responding to the DHF case. According to him, prevention programs such as fogging and PSN have been routinely carried out and provide real benefits.
"Respons pihak Kelurahan Pulau Untung Jawa sangat cepat dalam membantu kebutuhan masyarakat yang terkena dengue," ujar Robin yang anaknya sempat terkenal dengue pada Juli 2025.
