Bolivia: US Jets Violating Venezuelan Air Threats To Regions

JAKARTA - Bolivia calls Venezuela's airspace violation by US fighter jets a provocation that threatens regional stability.

The Bolivian Foreign Ministry firmly rejects and condemns violations (to the airspace) by friendly US fighter jets off the coast of Venezuela," the ministry said in a statement, as reported by RIA Novosti on Saturday, October 4.

Bolivia declared the breach a serious threat to Venezuelan state sovereignty, Bolivia asserted that the US fighter jet's actions violated international law and the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation.

"This illegal and provocative action reflects the hegemonic interests that want to control Caribbean natural resources, and jeopardize political, economic and regional social stability," the statement read.

The Ministry of Bolovia also reaffirmed Bolivia's commitment to peace and dialogue, and demanded an immediate cessation of these actions that threaten the lives and peace of millions of people in Latin America and the Caribbean.

On Thursday (2/10) Venezuelan Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez said five US warplanes, suspected to be the F-35, were detected by Venezuela's air defense system in Maiquetia's aviation information area.

Minister Lopez said international airline pilots also confirmed the presence of the jets off the coast of the Caribbean Venezuela.
