Addie MS's Story, Who Was Actually Tombok When Bringing Orchestra To The Music Festival

JAKARTA - Addie MS experienced many unpleasant stories while leading the Twilite Orchestra for more than three decades on the Indonesian music stage.

According to him, the concept of music in the country is still difficult to get to the stage because of the large costs that must be paid by the organizers, considering that this type of music requires tens or even hundreds of musicians and singers.

"Sometimes the name of the concert does not get money but money comes out," said Addie when met in Kuningan, South Jakarta, Wednesday, October 1.

Addie revealed that it is not uncommon for him to spend his personal money when bringing Twilite Orchestra to the music stage. One of them happened when they performed at the Partypora music festival in 2023.

"There is a concert, a festival, in 2023, the cost is big, as soon as I ask how much (of which) it costs, that's not enough," said Addie.

"But if we continue to use normal calculations, we will not play festivals. Because usually it's the band that plays there. But I want to introduceiponic music and choir to young people," he continued. .

In the appearance, Addie said, Twilite Orchestra did not appear with the support of any sponsors.

"There was no sponsor at that time," he said. At that time, more than 100 million were out of the bag.

At that time, Twilite Orchestra appeared for 45 minutes with many types of songs, ranging from national songs, regional songs, to popular songs.

"It turns out that young people have a high nationalism. When they hear struggle songs like that, somehow they all sing," said Addie.

"I am very touched. That's where the satisfaction is. I came out of money but it feels like I've done something for my country," he said.
