Government And DPR Form Technical Team To Overcome Obesity Trucks, Target Zero ODOL 2027

JAKARTA - The government and the DPR RI will form a technical team to deal with the problem of over-dimensional over-loading (ODOL) vehicles or obese trucks. The formation of this team is an effort to achieve the Zero ODOL target.

The team will involve representatives of the Ministry of Transportation, ministries and related institutions, as well as logistics driver associations.

Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said that the formation of this team would involve several relevant ministries. Dasco also appointed the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, as the coordinator of the team.

"The construction or formation of the team requires several related ministries so that they can complement each other and then it can run effectively," he said at a meeting of the leadership of the DPR with Commission V of the DPR, with the Ministry of Transportation and logistics associations, at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 1.

"For that, maybe as the coordinator, we ask the Ministry of Transportation to accommodate friends from drivers, leaders of Commission V, and from other ministries to be formed immediately so that it becomes effective," he continued.

The team will later become part of carrying out the revision process of Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ) related to Zero ODOL policy.

Separately, the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, said that the purpose of forming the team was to accommodate the aspirations of all parties and to prepare stages of implementing the zero ODOL policy in stages and measurably.

Dudy welcomed the mandate given. He hopes that this team will formulate a solution to the problems conveyed by fellow drivers.

"We hope that this small team can involve other ministries, that problems related to ODOL do not only involve the Ministry of Transportation. There are also other ministries that we can talk to. We hope that other ministries can be involved so that drivers, for example, talk about welfare, can talk to the relevant ministries," said Dudy.
