Sued For Scarcity Of Private Gas Station Fuel, Minister Bahlil: We Appreciate The Legal Process
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia responded to a civil lawsuit against him which was registered at the Central Jakarta District Court (Jakpus) due to the scarcity of fuel oil (BBM) at a private public gas station (SPBU).
"Yes, we appreciate the legal process," said Bahlil when met on the sidelines of the 2025 Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (ISF) Preparatory Coordination Meeting at the BKPM Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, was confiscated by Antara.
The lawsuit against Bahlil was registered in the Central Jakarta District Court system on Monday, September 29, with case number 648/Pdt.G/2025/PN Jkt.Pst. Apart from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, the defendants in the civil case were PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Shell Indonesia.
The lawsuit was registered by a civilian named Tati Suryati. In the main case, Tati said that she routinely fills gas stations managed by Shell Indonesia.
Then, on September 14, 2025, Tati found that the fuel she usually bought was not available at the Shell gas station. The difficulty of finding fuel at the Shell gas station caused Tati to sue the three parties.

Previously, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia stated that the private gas stations Shell, Vivo, bp, and Exxon Mobil agreed to buy additional fuel stocks with an import scheme through Pertamina.
The move is to overcome the scarcity of fuel in a number of private gas stations, such as Shell and bp, which have occurred since August.
According to Bahlil, from the agreement, private gas stations put forward several conditions in the additional import scheme for fuel through collaboration with Pertamina, namely that the fuel purchased is pure fuel which will later be mixed in their respective gas stations.
However, based on the second meeting between Pertamina and private enterprises on Tuesday, September 23, several companies still need time to coordinate with their respective global headquarters.
