Different Data On MBG Toxic Victims, Commission IX Of The DPR Asks BGN-Kemenkes-BPOM Coordination

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX DPR RI, Charles Honoris highlighted the difference in data on victims of Free Nutrition Food (MBG) poisoning from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Charles also asked BGN to communicate and coordinate with the Ministry of Health and BPOM so that there would be no differences and overcome the poisoning together.

This was conveyed by Charles in the IC Commission working meeting

x DPR together with the Head of BGN, the Minister of Health, and the Head of BPOM at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, October 1.

Charles said that the MBG program had a noble aim, namely to alleviate the problem of malnutrition for Indonesian children. However, according to him, this noble program should also be followed by good implementation by coordinating all relevant parties.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I don't think anyone doubts the purpose and good intentions of this program. And I think we all agree, the purpose of this program is how in the future we must be able to eradicate malnutrition in Indonesia. But of course good intentions and good intentions must also be followed by good implementation, good coordination," said Charles.

Charles said that since the beginning of Commission IX the DPR had reminded BGN to be able to coordinate with other institutions. Even in the conclusion of the meeting with BPOM, the health commission has included cooperation between institutions related to MBG.

"But in the past few weeks the cooperation has only limited to allowing the POM to provide training until the incident, cases of poisoning, cases of poisoning, cases of poisoning," he said.

Charles then touched on the government's statement through the Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan in a press conference a few days ago regarding the agreement of all institutions to work together to make President Prabowo Subianto's priority program a success. As well as emphasizing that child safety is a top priority.

"If I see, from the press conference that occurred yesterday, which was led by the Coordinating Minister, it seems that there has been an agreement, there is an agreement, an understanding that these institutions must be able to work well together to ensure this program can be successful. I hope this can happen," said Charles.

"Even if we look at the number of food poisonings today, the figure alone cannot agree, sir. The figure is the Ministry of Health 9,492, the figure is the POM 9,089, the figure is BGN 6,457, so the numbers alone can't be uniform. Oh, I'm sorry if from BGN it's not food poisoning anymore, but what is the terminology, digestive disorders," he continued.

The PDIP legislator from the DKI Jakarta III electoral district also hopes that the difference in the number of victims and the terminology of food poisoning will not reduce public trust in BGN or MBG as President Prabowo's flagship program.

"If cooperation cannot be built properly, the public trust in this program will decrease, sir," said Charles.
