Ipsos And Meta Survey: 91% Of Parents Support Youth Special Accounts On Social Media

JAKARTA - The scattered report made by Ipsos on behalf of Meta, revealed that 91% of parents and guardians surveyed support social media companies creating special accounts for teenagers with additional protection.

In addition, 92% of respondents also think Instagram Youth Accounts are beneficial for parents and 87% of parents and guardians surveyed say Instagram Youth Accounts make them more confident in letting their teens use Instagram.

More than 90% of parents and guardians surveyed also believe the built-in protection provided by Youth Accounts will help support their teens' activities on social media.

"The latest Ipsos list shows as many as 91% of parents and guardians surveyed in Indonesia support social media companies creating special accounts for teenagers with additional protection," said Philip Chua, Director of Public Policy for Meta Products, APAC.

Earlier this year, Meta introduced Instagram Youth Accounts in Indonesia, which have built-in protection that limits who can contact teens and the type of content they can see, and help ensure their time on social media is used positively.

Although the results of this survey are very positive, Meta is committed to continuing to innovate to support parents, guardians and adolescents. Now, the experience of Youth Accounts is extended to Facebook and Messenger in Indonesia.

"This provides more support and calm for parents and guardians, as well as ensures teenagers can connect with friends and explore their interests on social media with adequate protection," he continued.

Similar to the one applied on Instagram, such as automatic restrictions on inappropriate or unwanted contacts, as well as features to ensure that teens' time on social media is used positively.
