Marijuana Rises In Entropy, Papua New Guinea Men Circulate 21 Kg Of Marijuana Arrested In Jayapura

PAPUA - The Papua Police's Narcotics Directorate arrested MA (23), a Papua New Guinea (PNG) man for carrying, smuggling, and distributing marijuana weighing 21,313.82 grams or about 21 kilograms (kg) in Jayapura.

"The arrests were made after members conducted an investigation regarding the rampant circulation of marijuana around the Entrop area," said Head of Sub-Directorate 3 of the Narcotics Directorate of the Papua Police, AKP Agus Kuswanto, in Jayapura, Wednesday, as reported by Antara.

According to him, the arrests were made on Tuesday (30/9) at around 08.40 WIT, after the Papua Police Narcotics Directorate III investigation team conducted an investigation in the Entrop area, South Jayapura District.

The team suspected the motorcyclist who stopped in front of the South Jayapura District Office, and when the team was arrested the team tried to secure them, but the motorcycle driver fled.

"MA, who was riding a motorcycle, was arrested and when he was searched in the bag he was carrying, found marijuana," said AKP Agus Kuswanto.

After being arrested, a search was carried out at the boarding house and found 470 packs, all of which weighed 21.3 kilograms.

The Supreme Court will be subject to Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a minimum penalty of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years, or life imprisonment, or the death penalty.
