MBG Poisoning Students Rise, Doctors Say Repeated Events Can Be Fatal!
The rise of cases of poisoning due to Free Nutrition Food (MBG) that has hit thousands of children in recent times can have a very bad impact. The impact of the poisoning is not only diarrhea, vomiting, or dehydration.
Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia (FKUI), Prof. Dr.dr Ari Fahrial Syam, Sp.PD-KGEH, MMB, said that food poisoning should not be underestimated. This poisoning can have fatal impacts to death.
"In an acute situation, it can be fatal, even to death," said Prof. Ari, when met in South Jakarta, on Monday, September 29, 2025.
If the food poisoning occurs repeatedly, it can damage the intestinal structure. This can lead to the ferocity of the disease in the intestinal area in the future, one of which is colorectal cancer or colon cancer.
"In principle, when a person experiences chronic inflammation over and over again, it will change the structure of the intestinal wall until there is ferocity in the future," he explained.

"In a chronic state, one of them can trigger irrigable bowl syndrome to colossal cancer," he added.
In addition, if there has been an infection with food poisoning, it can trigger weakening endurance, disrupting nutritional absorption, and causing more complex medical needs in children. The use of antibiotics to treat poisoning can also affect children's gut microbiota.
Therefore, cases of mass poisoning that have befallen children in the recent MBG program must be seriously evaluated. Negligence in running the program can trigger bacterial contamination that causes poisoning, which if not handled properly can occur repeatedly.
"That's why if possible, don't get this poisoning infection, let alone repeat it. Because yes, the impact for the long term can be more severe," concluded Prof. Ari.
