Preventing MBG Poisoning, PDIP Suggests SPPG Only Production Of 1,000 Portions Or Leave It To School Canteens

JAKARTA - Member of the DPR from the PDIP faction as well as Chairman of the DPR RI Budget Agency (Banggar), Said Abdullah suggested that the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) only produce 1,000 servings per day of Free Nutrition Food (MBG). This is to prevent food poisoning from happening again to school children.

"I have indeed said that it would be better if the SPPG was too 3,000, the size was too big, too much and the reach would definitely be too far. Why isn't the SPPG enough for at least 1,000 students. So that the chain is shortened", Said said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, September 29.

"Maybe it will reduce too. Because if it's 3,000, I'm not sure that SPPG doesn't have storage pools, storage and so on, suddenly he spends daily, Wallah, he won't have the ability," added the PDIP DPP chairman.

According to Said, making nutritious food with 3,000 servings per day with one SPPG is too heavy. Because food must be processed with a long waiting time to be distributed to schools. Thus, limiting 1,000 servings/kitchens or if necessary, submit it to the canteen of each school will be a solution to minimize cases of food poisoning.

"The burden is too heavy for 3,000, just 1,000 or the government, in this case taking an extreme position, immediately the MBG kitchen in schools. So that the school canteen is rehabilitated, repaired then how to check, sanitation and so on and the coverage is only in schools. that's all. that's more extraordinary, "explained Said.

The PDIP legislator from the East Java XI electoral district also said that the Free Nutrition Eating program is President Prabowo Subianto's priority program that must be run. Moreover, Said said, the program, which began in February 2025, has a noble purpose in order to educate the nation's children.

"That was the President's promise during the campaign. So the promise must be fulfilled. Well, after a 10-month trip, we know that together there are various cases, if I'm not mistaken, there are around 5,620 of our children who are poisoned. Even though we know that MBG is part of educating the nation's life so that our children become smart, so that our children are hydrogenist, guaranteed," he explained.

"Therefore, the most important thing that needs to be saved is all of our students. It's not just a matter of budget. How to save our students when they get free nutritious food is really hygienic and sanitation is good," added Said.

Said argues, if it really has to be evaluated thoroughly, please evaluate it, not only the budget but also the mechanism, including people who are expert in handling nutrition.

"If it is comprehensive and carried out by the government, I believe the issue will no longer be budgeted. Because the target will be achieved," he said.

"The problem is the expert, because of the 5,823 it turns out that only 34 SPPGs have a hygienic and sanitation certificate license, the term is MBG kitchen. Only 34 kitchens," concluded Said Abdullah.
