Volvo XC70 PHEV Officially Launches In China, Will Be Marketed In 70 Countries

JAKARTA - The latest Volvo XC70 officially launched in China, this saru SUV is positioned between XC60 and XC90 in the line of brand products. Interestingly, this model is the first to adopt the latest SMA super hybrid architecture.

Quoting from the Carnewschina page, Monday, September 29, XC70 is only available in four variants, with prices ranging from 416,900 yuan or around Rp973 million, and offering promotional prices for a limited time at a price of 269,900 yuan (Rp630 million).

Elegant Design

In terms of design, XC70 continues the Scandinavian Volvo design philosophy, featuring a closed front grip in the form of a shield, active air intake, and a typical "Thor's Hammer" LED headlights that combines adaptive matrix technology. On the back, a vertical backlight in the form of a Viking ax further confirms Volvo's distinctive style.

The SUV has a length of 4,815 mm, a width of 1,890 mm, and a height of 1,650 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,895 mm. Customers can choose from seven exterior colors and some electoral choices ranging from 19 to 21 inches.

Luxury Interior

In the interior, XC70 adopts a Nordic-style minimalist design with floating cabin layout. Equipped with a 15.4-inch central touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 92-inch augmented head-up reality screen. The system supports four-zone voice recognition, AI-based travel planning, and a wireless Apple CarPlay. The Harman Kardon audio system includes 23 speakers with extraordinary surround capabilities.

Features of seed

The XC70 SUV also features advanced driver assistance features. With 24 internal sensors, the SUV is equipped with 21 safety and relief functions, including emergency braking, adaptive cruising control, and automatic parking. The NPA smart pilot assistance system is currently available on certain highways in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai areas, with wider coverage to be added via software updates.

Performance and variants

XC70 is available in two-wheeled and four-wheeled driving variants, with a choice of batteries including a 21.2 kWh battery capable of traveling the CLTC distance of 116 km or a larger 39.6 kWh battery, which is capable of traveling up to 212 km. Combined with its plug-in hybrid system, this vehicle is capable of traveling more than 1,200 km.

Powertrain options combine 1.5T hybrid engines with electric motors, with power output ranging between 234 kW on entry-level versions up to 340 kW on models with higher specifications. The highest configuration allows acceleration of 0100 km/h in 5.28 seconds. Charging from 0 to 80 percent can be completed in just 23 minutes, and this SUV also supports an external 6 kW power output for outdoor use.

Volvo has confirmed that XC70 will be produced in Taizhou, Zhejiang, with global standards, and export plans to more than 70 markets. The price places this model among the traditional luxury SUVs and newer energy competitors, with domestic and international market targets.
