Risk Of Fraud During Online Shopping, Asmara Abigail Shares Tips So As Not To Be A Victim

JAKARTA - Online shopping has now become part of the modern lifestyle of society. Practically, quickly, and can be done from anywhere, making this activity even more popular. However, behind the convenience, there is also an increasing risk, one of which is digital fraud which often disguises itself through fake messages or sites.

Many people who are unconscious have been targeted and eventually suffered losses. This is what happened to actress Asmara Abigail. He claimed to have been a victim of fraud under the guise of package delivery.

The incident began with an iMessage message which stated that the package was problematic and the destination address could not be read. The message included a link to correct the address and asked for an additional payment of Rp. 9,000. Because it looked professional, Asmara followed the instructions. But instead of solving the problem, the money actually disappeared to Rp. 70 million.

"If we are focusing, it's actually strange, when the company is this big, it sends iMessage. He said the package had problems and the address was damaged with professional writing. I was asked to click the link to update the address," said Asmara.

After contacting the delivery service, he realized the package was fine and kept getting to the destination address.

"The team from the expedition showed the chronology of the package's journey and explained its movement from one point to another. Apparently, my package was safe on the way, even reaching the destination address. So, the information I received earlier about the package stuck and the address that was not read was a lie," explained Asmara.

This experience makes him even more careful every time he shops online. He also often shares this story with the people around him so that they are more vigilant.

To increase public awareness, Asmara was then involved in the digital literacy campaign 3C: Cek, Suspicious, Cancel. This movement invites the public to be more careful in online transactions with three simple steps.

Check always make sure the truth of the information received.

Suspicious of 'check' suspicious details, such as links or resi numbers.

Cancel baikan dan segera laporkan jika menemukan indikasi penipuan.

Responding to this, Herline Septia, Brand Manager of J&T Express, assessed that real experiences like those experienced by Asmara could be a valuable lesson for many people.

"Education regarding digital fraud is very important for us to convey in line with its increasingly prevalent and sophisticated mode. With Asmara's personal experience, which has also faced digital fraud on behalf of expeditions, we hope this message will be easier for the public to understand. As a public figure, Asmara can help spread this campaign to more people, so that they are more vigilant and know the steps that must be taken," he said.

In the midst of an online shopping trend that is increasingly attached to a lifestyle, our vigilance as customers can be a reminder that anyone can be a target of digital fraud.
