UN Strives For Palestinian-Israel Peace Agreement To Profit Both Parties

JAKARTA - The United Nations (UN) hopes to reach a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine that can fulfill the interests of both parties in the conflict.

This was conveyed by a UN spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, Friday (26/9).

"We really hope that there will be a peace agreement that will be able to fulfill the aspirations of both the Palestinian people and the Israeli people," Dujarric said at a briefing.

On Monday (22/9), world leaders gathered in New York at a high-level meeting held by France and Saudi Arabia on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

The meeting aims to discuss the urgency of a new commitment to the solution of the two countries that have long been fought for, amid rising violence and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

During the conference, France, Andorra, Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, and San Marino confessed to the Palestinian State.

The move follows a similar decision previously taken by Australia, Britain, Canada, and Portugal on September 21.
