Viral Ambulance Bearing The Logo Of Padang City Government Helps Evacuate Victims In Palestine
JAKARTA - A white ambulance unit with the Padang City Government logo and the Indonesian Padang City writing alongside the Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) logo was tracked viral photos on social media helping evacuate victims of Israeli attacks in Palestine.
As reported by Antara, Monday, May 17, Branch Manager of ACT Padang, Aan Saputra, in Padang, Monday said the ambulance was a donation of Padang residents to Palestine through Padang City Government and ACT.
"The aid was collected in early 2020 and distributed in May 2020 in the form of an ambulance unit that was then the mayor still held by Mahyeldi", he said.
He said that not only did he assist one ambulance unit of the Padang City government as well as support the operation of the ambulance.
"Ambulance operations are directly managed by ACT representatives in Palestine", he said.
Separately, The Head of Padang Health Office, Ferimulyani Hamid, also said the ambulance with the Padang city logo was a donation from the residents and the Padang City Government.
"That's right. Donations through the ACT then collected and utilized", he said.
He said the donation was in partnership with the ACT Government. Once donations are raised they will be used to buy ambulances by 2020.
"One ambulance unit was purchased there, we were just helping with donations. Donations not only from the local government but also the citizens of Padang City", he said.
He is grateful that the ambulance is beneficial to the Palestinians today.
"Alhamdulillah can be used. In the ambulance it is certainly complete, there is oxygen, for emergency first aid. It's different from the hearse", he said.
