Coordinating Minister Yusril: Reform Committee And Police Transformation Team Help Each Other

Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections (Menko Kumham Imipas) Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the National Police Reform Committee formed by the government and the Police Reform Transformation Team formed by the National Police Chief would work together to help each other.

"Don't worry about a collision, this will definitely work to help each other," said Coordinating Minister Yusril, Friday, September 26, as reported by ANTARA.

He explained that the Police Reform Transformation Team would focus more on working to fix the internal police. The team, he said, would support the Police Reform Committee formed by President Prabowo Subianto.

Yusril welcomed the discourse on police reform. In this case, he highlighted the Police Law, which has not been revised for a long time and the performance of the police officers who have received public criticism.

"There are many negative accusations against our police that can be true, or not. Therefore, I welcome and we are very happy. As a minister, of course I obey the President's direction to form the Reform Committee," he said.

According to Yusril, the finalization of the National Police Reform Committee is waiting for President Prabowo to return to his homeland from his overseas visit. He estimates that the committee will be completed and will be announced in mid-October 2025.

Nevertheless, he confirmed that a number of names were predicted to fill the committee, including the former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs or Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD.

Yusril claimed to have communicated with President Prabowo regarding the formation of the Police Reform Committee. The president, he said, asked the reform committee to be formed soon and the results were reported in a few months.

"Mr. President is well aware that many criticisms are addressed to our law enforcers and during his time as President, he wants internal improvements," he added.

Meanwhile, the formation of the Police Reform Transformation Team was stated through an Order (Sprin) Number Sprin/2749/IX/TUK.2.1/2025 signed by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on September 17, 2025.

The Police Reform Transformation Team was formed as a step to ensure institutional accountability. In total there are 52 high and middle officers who are in the team in question.

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo acts as a protector, while Deputy Chief of Police, Komjen Dedi Prasetyo, as advisor. The high-ranking officer appointed as team leader is Kalemdiklat Polri Komjen Chryshnanda Dwilaksana.
