Minister Of Environment Gives 3 Months Star Hotels In Bali To Handle Waste
DENPASAR - Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq gave tourism accommodation owners such as hotels in Bali to handle their waste.
Minister Hanif on the sidelines of planting trees in Taman Kehati, Ayung watershed, Denpasar, said the policy was directed primarily for five-star hotels.
"We have evaluated all elements, including the responsibility of the five-star hotels in Bali, Denpasar City and Badung, we have evaluated, later this afternoon we will discuss the results of the evaluation," he said, Friday, September 26.
Minister LH explained that star hotels are the initial target because they must have high turnover which means that they also produce waste and waste in large volumes.
After the hotel, the next stage of the Ministry of Environment will target five-star restaurants to handle the waste they produce.
"So that (star hotels) that we control first, this afternoon we and the Governor of Bali will discuss together with them (admomentation businesses) to give them the next three months to improve themselves," he said.
The government will ask business actors to improve their waste management, then assessed and labeling hotels that have met the requirements.

Meanwhile, for hotels that violate, the Minister of Environment and Forestry admitted that he did not hesitate to impose sanctions considering the severity of the condition of waste in Bali, especially since the rules imposed on business actors, according to him, are not difficult, so they should be easy to follow.
"Because Bali is important, every step is one that we tolerate, there is also one damage that will definitely occur," he said, asserting.
"So for Bali with sufficient local wisdom that is not found elsewhere, we must build this step," he said.
Hanif Faisol said the waste management policy must be approved by accommodation business actors throughout Bali even though the new ones have been evaluated in Denpasar and Badung.
