Kia EV6 And Latest EV9 Get 'Plug & Charge' Features, Charging Power As Easy As Cable
JAKARTA - The Kia EV6 and EV9 electric cars are now increasingly practical. Thanks to the software update, fast charging of DC can be done without any hassle.
For the 2026 model, Kia EV6 produced by 2025 and Kia EV9 model 2026 in the United States (US) will be equipped with a Tesla-style charging port (NACS), will get a significant software upgrade, namely the Plug & Charge feature.
Reporting from InsideEvs, Friday, September 26, this small increase promises a much smoother DC fast charging experience. Applicable owners no longer need to bother using the mobile application or RFID card every time they charge. Just plug in the cable, and the vehicle and billing authentication process will occur automatically.

This Plug & Charge feature is scheduled to be implemented at the two EVs by the end of this year and the conditions are also easy. As long as the payment method has been properly arranged in the Kia Charge Pass system, eligible EV owners will be able to charge directly and decide connections without worrying about billing. Vehicle and bill authentication will occur automatically, making the charging experience much more relaxed.
Big charging networks like Tesla Supercharger and Electrify America are among operators supporting this Plug & Charge technology.
Kia EV6 2025 and Kia EV9 2026 are the first models of this Korean manufacturer to come with a built-in NACS charging port (Tesla-style).
This eliminates the need for adapters when charging at Tesla Superchargers, as well as certain Electrify America stalls that have also been equipped with the NACS connector.
However, it should be noted, most non-Tesla DC chargers in the United States currently still use the CCS1 connector. This means that the owners of both Kia models compatible with Plug & Charge will still need an adapter to charge at stations that use CCS1 standards.
