Digital Economy Tax Reaches IDR 41.09 Trillion In August 2025
The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) of the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) noted that until August 31, 2025, revenue from the digital economy business sector to the state treasury amounted to Rp41.09 trillion.
Rosmauli's Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations said the amount came from the collection of Trade Value Added Tax (PPN) through an Electronic System (PMSE) of IDR 31.85 trillion, a tax on crypto assets of IDR 1.61 trillion, a fintech tax (peer-to-peer lending) of IDR 3.99 trillion, and taxes collected by other parties through the Government Procurement Information System (Pajak SIPP) of IDR 3.63 trillion.
"As of August 2025, the government has appointed 236 companies to collect PMSE VAT," he said in his statement, Friday, September 26.
He said that in the same month, there were four new appointments, namely Blackmagic Design Asia Pte Ltd, Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., PIA Private Internet Access, Inc, and Neon Commerce Inc. At the same time, the government also revoked one PMSE VAT collection, namely TP Global Operations Limited.
Rosmauli explained that until August 2025 of the total 201 PMSE polls had collected and deposited PMSE VATs totaling Rp31.85 trillion.
He added that this amount consisted of deposits of IDR 731.4 billion in 2020, IDR 3.90 trillion in 2021, IDR 5.51 trillion in 2022, IDR 6.76 trillion in 2023, IDR 8.44 trillion in 2024, and IDR 6.51 trillion in 2025.
Meanwhile, crypto tax revenues have been collected in the amount of Rp1.61 trillion until August 2025, which comes from Rp246.45 billion in revenues in 2022, Rp220.83 billion in revenues in 2023, Rp620.4 billion in 2024, and Rp522.82 billion in revenues in 2025.
"The receipt of the crypto tax consists of PPh 22 amounting to Rp770.42 billion and VAT DN of Rp840.08 billion," he said.
Rosmauli said that fintech taxes have also contributed tax revenues of Rp3.99 trillion until August 2025. Revenue from fintech taxes comes from Rp446.39 billion in revenues in 2022, Rp1.11 trillion in revenues in 2023, Rp1.48 trillion in revenues in 2024, and Rp952.55 billion in revenues in 2025.
He conveyed that the fintech tax consists of PPh 23 on loan interest received by WPDN and BUT amounting to Rp1.11 trillion, PPh 26 for interest on loans received by WPLN amounting to Rp724.32 billion, and VAT DN for tax revenue for other digital economy businesses comes from receiving SIPP Taxes.

Rosmauli said that until August 2025, revenue from the SIPP tax amounted to Rp3.63 trillion. The receipt from the SIPP tax came from Rp402.38 billion in revenue in 2022, amounting to Rp1.12 trillion in revenues in 2023, Rp1.33 trillion in revenues in 2024, and Rp786.3 billion in revenues in 2025.
He conveyed that SIPP tax revenue consists of PPh Article 22 amounting to Rp242.31 billion and VAT of Rp3.39 trillion.
"With the realization of Rp41.09 trillion, digital taxes are increasingly affirming their role as the main driver of state revenues in this digital era," said Rosmauli.
He also hopes that this positive trend will continue in line with the expansion of the PMSE VAT collection base, the development of the fintech and crypto industry, and the optimization of digital systems in the government procurement sector.
