Inconsistency In Policy Concerning Eid Homecoming, House Of Representatives: Don’t Blame Each Other If COVID-19 Case Soars

JAKARTA - Vice Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni, reminded all parties, including the government, officials, and the public to jointly anticipate the spike in cases of COVID-19 after Eid al-Fitr throughout Indonesia, especially DKI Jakarta.

According to him, the government, either central or regional issued many inconsistent rules. So instead of having to throw mistakes at each other, it is better to work together to prevent the addition of new cases.

"If it turns out that the case is soaring, I hope we do not blame each other because all parties have contributed to the mistake", Sahroni said in Jakarta, Sunday, May 16.

In addition to the Government's inconsistent policies, legislators in DKI Jakarta also regretted the decision of citizens who chose to perform homecoming during the Eid al-Fitr holiday this month. In fact, prohibition and prevention efforts continue to be carried out by the authorities.

"The police have also made maximum efforts such as sealing, checking, random tests. However, it was ultimately unable to stem the surge of citizens who wanted to perform homecoming. So, this has to be a correction for all of us", the NasDem Party politician said.

As is known, the Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) tightened the inspection of every vehicle entering the Greater Jakarta area during the Eid al-Fitr 2021 backflow by establishing 109 checkpoints to conduct random antigen tests aimed at suppressing COVID-19 cases.

Head of The National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Istiono mentioned 72 reactive people of COVID-19 from a random sample of 13.675 people who underwent antigen tests at a number of Sealing Posts in Indonesia.
