Foreign Minister Sugiono Encourages The G20 To Be A Motorbike For Returning Trust To Multilateralism
JAKARTA - Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of multilateral revitalizing, with the G20 having a role in it and to restore trust in multilateralism.
Speaking at the 2nd G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting (G20 Foreign Ministers) on the sidelines of the United Nations' 80th General Assembly in New York, United States on Thursday local time, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized the importance of multilateralism revitalization by oriented towards a more effective, inclusive, and able to provide real solutions.
"The G20 must be a driving force to restore trust in multilateralism and ensure fair development for all," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching a statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Friday, September 26.
In this context, Foreign Minister Sugiono emphasized that the G20 has an important role to play in supporting the UN80 UN Secretary-General initiative, especially in increasing efficiency, strengthening mandates, and aligning agendas with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Foreign Minister Sugiono added that the urgency to bridge the gap in SDGs financing through innovative funding, as well as encourage Multilateral Development Bank reforms to be more responsive to the needs of developing countries.
It is known that the 2nd G20 FMM meeting in New York took place under the 2025 South African G20 Presidency with the theme "Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability".
