KESDM Pockets IDR 35 T Mining Reclamation Guarantee Fund From Minerba Company

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has received IDR 30 trillion to IDR 35 trillion in reclamation and post-mining guarantee funds from mineral and coal companies (minerba).

"If the total value for reclamation and post-mining is currently around Rp. 30 trillion-Rp. 35 trillion and placed in government banks," said Director General of Mineral and Coal Tri Winarno as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, September 25.

Regarding the 190 mineral and coal mining companies whose permits are still suspended, Tri opens up opportunities for them to return to their activities by paying reclamation and post-mining guarantee funds as a form of obedience.

If the company is obedient, he said again, the government will again allow the company to continue its mining activities.

"When the company (which was suspended) has made payments, then reports to us, we will reopen (the permit)," Tri said.

Currently, the company's compliance with post-mining reclamation and guarantee guarantees has increased from 39 percent to around 72 percent.

Tri said that currently the government's focus is increasing compliance with the payment of reclamation and post-mining guarantees to reach 100 percent.

On this occasion, he emphasized that post-mining reclamation and guarantee guarantees are not just an administrative obligation of a company, but an indicator of maturity in governance.

Previously, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources suspended 190 mineral and coal mining permits as a result of a thorough evaluation of the mining sector by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal.

The suspension was based on a letter from the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number T-1533/MB.07/DJB.T/2025.

Tri conveyed that he had given the company the first, second, and third warning letters.

However, because there was no follow-up to the warning given, the government imposed temporary suspension sanctions on 190 mining companies related to the company's obligation to ensure reclamation and post-mining activities.

As long as sanctions are imposed, IUP holders are asked to continue to carry out their obligations in managing, maintenance, maintenance, and monitoring mining, including the environment in the Mining Business Permit Area.
