Extreme Weather Hits North Labuhanbatu And Pematangsiantar, Dozens Of Houses Affected

The North Sumatra Center for Disaster Management Operations Control (Pusdalops PB) noted that two areas in the province, namely North Labuhanbatu Regency and Pematangsiantar City, were hit by extreme weather in the form of tornadoes.

Based on a report from the North Sumatra PB Pusdalops in Medan, it was stated that extreme weather hit North Labuhanbatu Regency on Wednesday and Pematangsiantar City on Tuesday, September 23.

Pusdalops noted that the tornado affected 23 houses in North Labuhanbatu Regency, precisely in Simonis Village, Aek Natas District.

Meanwhile, in Pematangsiantar City, 38 houses were affected, spread over four sub-districts.

The four sub-districts that were hit by extreme weather include West Siantar, South Siantar, East Siantar and Siantar Sitalasari sub-districts.

Head of the Emergency, Equipment and Logistics Handling Division of the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati said the data was still temporary.

"Based on reports, the number of refugees, injured victims, and zero deaths," he said, quoted from Antara, Thursday, September 25.

Sri Wahyuni, who is familiarly called Yuyun, said that various efforts to deal with the disaster had been carried out by each local government together with relevant policy makers.
