President Prabowo Praises Canada's Consistency In Maintaining Global Stability And Order

JAKARTA - The President of the Republic of Indonesia praised Canada's role on the international stage, appreciating the cooperation between the two countries which has been going well for a long time.

That was conveyed by President Prabowo during a tete-a-tete meeting with Canadian Prime Minister (PM), Mark Carney at West Block, Parliament Hill, Ottawa, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 local time.

President Prabowo highlighted the long history of collaboration between Indonesia and Canada in world peace. He expressed his appreciation for Canada's role as a world leader who is consistent in maintaining global stability and order.

"In traditional terms, many, many years of leadership are wise and stable. So we really appreciate this," said President Prabowo, quoted from the website of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Thursday, September 25.

The meeting of the two leaders marks an important momentum in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and Canada in various strategic fields.

President Prabowo also apologized for not being able to attend the G7 Summit which was held in Canada last June as a representative of global countries.

"But as I promised, at the first opportunity possible, I would like to meet you," President Prabowo told PM Carney.

The President emphasized that Indonesia and Canada have long been in close friendship. According to him, Canada is a Western force that is responsible, mature, and has great empathy for global development issues.

"Canada is always present in many poverty alleviation programs, assistance in the fields of health, agriculture, fisheries. And also, we have very good traditional cooperation in the field of peacekeeping," explained the President.

This tete-a-tete meeting reflects the joint determination of the two leaders to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Canada comprehensively.

Not only in the economic and security fields, but also in improving the welfare of the people, as well as maintaining world peace and stability.
