Gerindra Legislator Complains About Long Queues At Toll Gate, Is MLFF System Needed?

JAKARTA - Commission V DPR RI summoned the Ministry of Public Works (PU) to attend a committee meeting related to minimum service standards (SPM) on toll roads throughout Indonesia.

In the panja meeting, almost all members of Commission V submitted their respective complaints regarding SPM on toll roads, including Legislators from the Gerindra faction Novita Wijayanti.

Novita said, one of the obstacles that is often found on toll roads is the existence of long queues when entering toll gates (GT). This is because people have to queue to tap on GT.

"Then about the gates that are still queuing a lot because they are tap tap, this is also now still hampering. Will it be possible to pass directly in the future, thereby reducing traffic jams on toll roads," he said at a Working Committee Meeting with Commission V DPR RI at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 24.

In the meeting, the intention conveyed by Novita implies that the government can immediately implement MLFF in the country.

MLFF itself is a toll payment system based on the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) technology and makes transactions through toll road special applications on smartphones.

Furthermore, GPS will determine the location determined by satellite and the map-matching process will run on the central system.

Users only need to download an application called Cantas on a smartphone, register by filling in personal data, and ensure the availability of balances before entering the toll gate.

MLFF aims to reduce delays when on toll roads, and can reduce travel time so as to increase the competitiveness of the road network system, and to allow fair pricing concepts to be carried out, namely charging rates according to the roads taken by road users.

Not only that, but Novita also highlighted that there are still many potholes in toll roads, cracked to bumpy roads.

These problems are believed to endanger road users and cause accidents.

"In fact, until now, until yesterday, there were still many toll roads that (corresponding to) accidents. For example, in the past period, the Lampung 'Palembang Toll Road, it was clear that I passed it right and it was real in my eyes that it passed a large hole. Then, the road was bumpy," said Novita.

"Commission V went there and we felt it right, wow, this is if people use the toll road fast, this is very risky," he continued.

In addition to these sections, Novita also highlighted the diversity that often occurs on the Cipularang Toll Road.

According to him, too many victims have fallen due to accidents on the toll road.

"Then (the toll road) Cipularang is really bad. If I'm not mistaken, how many KMs are it, right, accidents and accidents again. In fact, the NTSC has gone down and then we also go there to give recommendations. I don't understand what the recommendations are, there have been improvements according to the recommendations or not, because after that there was another accident," he said.

"There is a recommendation whether it was implemented properly because I don't want the suudzon, actually the Minister (Dody), maybe this is a yauda because it has often been considered normal (accident). In fact, this is the safety of life, if life is lost it can't be reversed, you can't buy it at the Minister's store," he continued.

For this reason, Novita asked the Ministry of Public Works to seriously pay attention to the SPM aspects on toll roads.

This, he said, is important to do in anticipation of accidents that occur repeatedly in the future.

"In my opinion, this is wrong, whether the SPM, whether it hit the road, the hole, the crack was not quickly corrected, was the quality not good," explained Novita.

"If indeed it is very dangerous for tens to hundreds of lives, whether there is no effort to repair it, so there will be no further accidents," he concluded.
