Komdigi: Edge AI Is An Important Key To Encouraging Industrial Innovation And Digital Transformation

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, emphasized the important meaning of using Edge Artificial Intelligence (Edge AI) to encourage industrial innovation, strengthen competitiveness, and maintain ethical principles in digital transformation.

"Today's AI is not just technology, but has become a geopolitical force. Therefore, Indonesia must be prepared with a healthy, ethical, and beneficial ecosystem for the community," said Nezar in his official broadcast.

Even though Indonesia is still in the early stages of AI adoption, its use has expanded. Therefore, according to him, there are two big jobs that must be answered immediately, namely AI infrastructure and talent.

"Our talent should not just stop as users. Indonesia must produce developers and innovators of AI," said Nezar further.

Nezar also reminded of social risks from the use of AI, ranging from synthetic relations (emotional relations between humans and AI) to potential labor disruption.

A number of countries have even begun to consider the robot taxation scheme or the human concept in the loop so that humans are not completely replaced by machines.

Therefore, he added, the government is preparing the National AI Roadmap for the next five years, which is expected to serve as a public guideline in the use of ethical and responsible AI.

"The National AI Roadmap emphasizes the principle of human-centricity. AI must be a solution, not a threat to society," he added.

Furthermore, Nezar emphasized that Edge AI can bring tangible benefits in the health, agriculture and manufacturing sectors, while strengthening data resilience.

"Edge AI opens up great opportunities if we bring it closer to concrete problems in society. Governments, academics, industry, and communities must work together to build a sustainable AI ecosystem," he concluded.
