OpenAI, Oracle, And SoftBank Announce Five New Locations Of AI Data Center In The US

JAKARTA - OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank announced five locations of their new AI data centers in the United States (US) under Stargate, OpenAI's main AI infrastructure platform.

The combined capacity of these five new locations includes key locations and ongoing projects increasing Stargate's capacity to nearly 7 gigawatts and investment of more than 400 billion US dollars (IDR 6,660 trillion) over the next three years.

This move puts the consortium on track to fulfill a full commitment of 500 billion US dollars (IDR 8,325 trillion) with a total capacity of 10 gigawatts before the end of 2025, faster than the initial target.

Three new locations will be in Shockelford County, Texas; Dowidya Ana County, New Mexico; and the reason (specific location will be announced soon), plus a potential expansion of 600 megawatts near Abilene, Texas.

"We have made historic progress towards this goal through Stargate and moved quickly not only to fulfill our initial commitment, but also to lay the foundation for the next step," said OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in his announcement quoted Wednesday, September 24.
