Left Behind By Erick Thohir, The Ministry Of SOEs Has The Potential To Drop Its Status To Become A Body

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi revealed the possibility of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) dropping its status into a body. This is in line with the revision of the law on the fourth amendment to the BUMN Law in the DPR RI.

So far, Prasetyo said that the operational function of various SOEs has been mostly carried out by the Investment Management Agency (BPI) Daya Anagata Nusantara (Danantara), while the Ministry of SOEs is currently more as a regulator.

"There is a possibility that the ministry wants us to reduce its status to a body. There is such a possibility," said Prasetyo after attending a commission working meeting at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

However, the certainty of changing the name or status of the Ministry of SOEs is waiting for the discussion of the bill carried out by Commission VI of the DPR RI.

Prasetyo also could not say for sure the term of the institution later.

According to him, the bill will discuss the best options for the Ministry of SOEs in the future, including management to the fate of the employees of the state civil apparatus (ASN).

"If there are consequences or implications for the example mentioned earlier, now those who have served in the Ministry of SOEs are part of what we think later," he said.

The Minister of State Secretary said that the government would also encourage the BUMN Bill to be completed as soon as possible.

"Yes, we hope it will be faster, if possible this week will be completed, this week. If it can be completed before the recess, we will finish it," he said.

Previously, the Ministry of SOEs was led by Erick Thohir since October 2019 during the reign of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowi.

Erick then released his position as Minister of SOEs after being appointed Minister of Youth and Sports (Menpora) by President Prabowo Subianto who was then sworn in on September 17, 2025.

Despite serving as Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick did not leave other positions as Chairman of PSSI.

The leadership position of BUMN was then occupied by Dony Oskaria as the acting (Plt) of the Minister of SOEs.

Since then, there have been a number of other transformations, one of which is the completion of the Legislation Body (Baleg) of the DPR RI to evaluate and develop the National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) and approve the Draft Law (RUU) of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) to enter the 2025 Priority Prolegnas

In addition, the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia also approved the Anagata Nusantara Power Bill (Danantara) to enter the 2026 Priority Prolegnas.

"In 2026, yes (RUU Danantara)," said Chairman of the Legislative Council of the Republic of Indonesia Bob Hasan at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Thursday, September 18.

Although a number of bills are a priority in 2025, according to him, several bills were also launched for discussion in 2026.
