Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi revealed that former Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Mahfud MD was willing to join the Police Reform Committee team formed by President Prabowo Subianto.
"Alhamdulillah, he expressed his willingness to join," said Prasetyo at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, which was confiscated by Antara.
He said the committee members would later number around nine people. Apart from Mahfud, there were a number of other figures who joined, including several former National Police Chiefs of the Republic of Indonesia (Kapolri).
However, he has not been able to mention in detail the figures who will enter the committee. He also asked the public to wait for President Prabowo's return from abroad to announce the matter of the Police Reform Committee.
"If you are from the Palace waiting, maybe the President will return with regard to the Police Reform Committee," he said.
On the other hand, he also assessed that the other Police Reform Team formed by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo had the same spirit as the steps taken by the government.
"The spirit is actually the same, but then the internal police also initiated by forming a reform team," he said.
