President Putin Affirms Russia Is Ready To Respond To Any Strategic Threat

JAKARTA - Russia is able to respond to any threats, not with words, but with military and technical steps, President Vladimir Putin said.

This was conveyed by President Putin while chairing a meeting with the Russian Security Council.

"I want to emphasize that Russia is able to respond to any threats that exist or that are developing, and no one should doubt this," President Putin said, quoted from TASS September 23.

"We will respond not with words, but with military and technical steps," said President Putin.

For example, the head of state gave an example of the Russian authorities' decision to revoke the moratorium on the deployment of medium and short-range missiles launched from the ground.

"This is a necessary step, driven by the need to respond adequately to similar weapons deployment programs made in the United States and the rest of the West in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, which directly threatens Russia's security," President Putin said.

"Our plan to strengthen the country's defense capabilities is being developed taking into account changes in the global situation, and the plan is being implemented in full and on time," concluded Putin.

This meeting was attended by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev, Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, Defense Minister Andrei Belusov, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergei Naryshkin, and Special Presidential Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
