How Facebook-Instagram Enlivens The Holy Month Of Ramadan

JAKARTA - Social Media Facebook and Instagram have their own way to celebrate the holy month of Ramadan. Through the Ramadan-themed online series, the two social media have prepared various useful activities for their users.

First, Facebook has a show entitled 'Stories of Ramadan' in collaboration with creator and blogger Nuseir Yassin or better known as Nas Daily. The premiere of the Ramadan series has been on the air since April 23 yesterday.

Yassin explained, this series will tell the ins and outs of the holy month of Ramadan, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In total for eight episodes, Nas will present various Ramadan traditions both in Indonesia and other Muslim majority countries.

In addition to broadcasting the Ramadan series, Facebook also plans to hold a bazaar. This provides an opportunity for individual users and MSME players to conduct a virtual bazaar through the Facebook platform.

"First, there is such a thing as a bazaar at home. The goal is for our SME friends with the greatest impact. Therefore, a forum is prepared to be able to sell, to have direct interaction," said the Country Director of Facebook in Indonesia, Pieter Lydian in a video conference.

Pieter also said that since the physical distancing policy was implemented, Facebook users via cellphones have increased rapidly. For this reason, Facebook will present a variety of digital activities and information about COVID-19, in a creative way and easy for the public to understand.

Not only that, Mark Zuckerberg's social media platform has also donated funds worth US $ 100 million to help 30,000 MSMEs around the world including Indonesia, who are affected by COVID-19. Business people can register for this intensive Facebook program by creating educational shows during the month of Ramadan.

"Brands have the opportunity to create meaningful relationships during the month of Ramadan by becoming a service to observers and taking important values and issues for society. Business opportunities exist during that month, this is a special time for society, especially now when there is a crisis in hands, "said the Facebook in its official statement.

"The first filter will contain ideas of kindness that Instagram users can do virtually in the month of Ramadan, for example by greeting friends who have not met for a long time. For the second filter, Indonesians can show their character during Ramadan and Eid on Instagram. For example, from their favorite food or their favorite ngabuburit tradition, "explained APAC Communications Manager Instagram Putri Silalahi.
