Polish PM Ensures His Troops Will Shoot Falls Objects That Violate Airspace
JAKARTA - Poland insists it will shoot down objects that violate its airspace and pose a threat. But Poland will take a more careful approach to the situation that is not clear.
Estonia previously said three Russian fighter jets violated its airspace on Friday, adding to the impression that NATO leaders, Moscow are testing the alliance's readiness and determination, with some urging a firm response.
The United Nations Security Council (UN) is scheduled to meet on Monday to discuss the incident.
Russia on Monday claimed its fighter jets violated Estonia's airspace were wrong and designed to trigger tensions.
Allegations of raids in Estonia occurred after more than 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace on the night of September 9-10.
Poland also said two Russian fighter jets violated the safe zone of the Petrobaltic drilling platform in the Baltic Sea.
"We will take the decision to shoot a flying object down when they violate our territory and fly over Poland - there is absolutely no discussion about it," Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
"When we face a situation that is not entirely clear, such as the recent Russian fighter jet flight aboard the Petrobaltic platform - but without any violations, because this is not our territorial waters - you really need to think twice before deciding actions that could trigger a very acute phase of conflict."

Tusk said he also needed to make sure Poland would not be alone if the conflict began to escalate.
"I also need to really believe that all allies will treat this in exactly the same way we are," he said.
