Admitting That He Has Beautiful Memories Of Trump, Kim Jong Un Is Ready To Discuss As Long As He Doesn't Block Nuclear Programs
JAKARTA - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un claims to have fond memories with United States (US) President Donald Trump and is open to future negotiations with the US. However, this can be realized if North Korea can maintain its nuclear arsenal.
Kim met Trump three times at a high-level summit during Trump's first term, before negotiations over what concession North Korea was willing to give regarding its nuclear weapons in Hanoi failed in 2019.
The US demand for Kim to agree with the approval of the nuclear program has long been the point of debate between the two countries. At that time, North Korea was also subject to a series of consecutive US and UN sanctions.
"If the United States throws away its appetite for denuclearization and, based on recognition of reality, truly wants peaceful coexistence with us, then there is no reason we can't make it happen," Kim said in a lengthy speech before North Korea's Supreme People's Assembly. , according to a KCNA report on Monday 22 September, quoted from AFP.
"I personally still have fond memories of the current US president, Trump," added Kim.
Since the failed 2019 summit, North Korea has repeatedly said it will never hand over its nuclear weapons deal to the US. Since then, North Korea has continued to declare itself a nuclear country.
Kim reiterated that denuclearization is not an option.
"The world knows very well what the United States is doing after forcing a country to hand over its nuclear weapons and strip its weapons," he said.
"We will never hand over our nuclear weapons," he continued.
Kim said the sanctions imposed on North Korea only helped his country to "grow stronger, build resilience and resistance that cannot be destroyed by any pressure."
He added that he would not bow to any agreement that curbed North Korea. It doesn't even matter if you have to synergize with South Korea (South Korea) a US ally even though the new South Korean president, Lee Jae-myung, has tried to defuse tensions with his country.
"There is no reason to sit with South Korea," he said.
"We emphasize that we will not deal with them in any form," Kim continued.
