Garut Health Office Waits For Lab Results For Toxic Cases Of Hundreds Of Students Allegedly Consumption Of MBG
GARUT - The Health Office (Dinkes) of Garut Regency, West Java said that it was not certain that the Free Nutrition Food (MBG) menu consumed by students in Kadungora District was the cause of poisoning because it needed to be proven by the results of laboratory tests that are currently being carried out.
"The cause is not yet known, we don't want to guess," said Head of the Garut District Health Office Leli Yuliani as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 19.
He said that samples of food consumed by patients had been taken for laboratory tests in Bandung, which were waiting for the next few days to find out what bacteria were in the food, causing poisoning.
As long as there is no study based on the results of the laboratory test, it cannot be conveyed to the public what caused the poisoning students.
"We'll just have to wait for the results," he said.
He conveyed that a team from the Garut Health Office had now traced residents who consumed food allegedly from the MBG program in Kadungora District, the result of which until Friday afternoon the number of victims increased to 657 people.
Previously, he said, the initial emergence of cases of poisoning experienced by 150 students on Wednesday (17/9), then Thursday (18/9) increased to 569 people, and currently have received medical treatment.
He said the number of victims who were poisoned was not severe enough when undergoing a medical examination at the puskesmas so that they could be allowed to go home, unless there were 19 people who had to be treated.
However, of the number of patients who were previously treated, he said, as many as nine people had improved, so they were allowed to go home, Friday morning.
"There are 10 people who still have to undergo treatment," he said.
