Prabowo Seriously Wants To Develop The Javanese Pantura, Here's The Proof
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has compiled a government work plan (RKP) in developing the northern coastal area (Pantura) of Java, including the construction of a giant sea embankment aka Giant Sea Wall.
The government's plan to work on the megaproject in the Pantura area of Java is as stated in the attachment to the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) document Number 79 of 2025 concerning the Updating of the Government Work Plan for 2025.
Based on Prabowo's Presidential Decree on June 30, 2025, the president has determined that integrated development along the North Coast of Java is included in the government's priority.
In the regulation, it was stated that the integrated development of the North Coast of Java was carried out in order to increase the resilience of the Pantura Area to the destructive power of sea water.
The reason is, land subsidence in the area continues
"The integrated development of the northern coast of Java is an effort to increase the resilience of the Javanese Pantura area to the damaged power of the water, including the fulfillment of basic services that are integrated with regional development to increase economic growth," the regulation reads, quoted on Friday, September 19.
A number of steps will be taken, namely, 200 hectares (ha) of protection in the Pantura area of Java from the risk of water damage.
Second, the addition of raw water infrastructure capacity of 0.2 cubic meters per second.
Third, increasing access to drinking water from the piping network to 31.5 percent. Fourth, ensure that 32 districts/cities have a good domestic wastewater treatment plant (IPAL/IPLT)
"The integrated development of the north coast of Java is carried out through (a) water damage control, (b) the supply of raw water and drinking water, (c) the construction of a domestic waste water management system, (d) monitoring of land subsidence, (e) improving environmental quality and (f) regional development," explained the regulation.
President Prabowo's seriousness in the construction of Giant Sea Wall and the development of the Javanese Pantura were proven by the establishment of the Javanese Pantura Management Authority.
President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated Didit Herdiawan Ashaf as Head of the North Coast Management Authority (Pantura) of Java. Prabowo also inaugurated Darwin Trisna Djajawinata and Suhajar Dyantoro as Deputy Heads of the North Coast Management Authority of Java.
The inauguration of the Javanese Pantura Authority agency official refers to Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 76P of 2025.
This agency will later become a special institution that coordinates the construction of a giant sea embankment along the north coast of Java.
Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Development (IPK) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) revealed that prospective foreign investors were starting to be interested in investing in the Giant Sea Wall development project in Pantura Jawa.
AHY said the foreign investors came from China, Europe and the Middle East.
However, he did not specify which European and Middle Eastern countries were interested in investing in the project.
According to him, investors' interest has been conveyed to President Prabowo Subianto.
Thus, the potential investment for Giant Sea Wall in the future does not only come from Chinese investors.
"Lastly, I was invited to a limited meeting (Ratas) by the President there, he (President Prabowo) did convey a number of circles and we also know exactly how this issue has also received the attention of a number of countries. It can be said that there is potential for investors, including from China. Not only in Asia, but also in Europe and the Middle East," AHY said when met after attending the Green Initiative Conference (GIC) event at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday, September 18.

However, AHY said, the realization of the investment could not be carried out in the near future.
According to him, a gradual process is needed to finalize the concept of Gian Sea Wall development because it is a big project and of course requires a jumbo budget.
