The Perpetrator Of The Santri Murder In HST South Kalimantan Was Sentenced To 7.5 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The Panel of Judges at the Barabai District Court (PN), Hulu Sungai Tengah (HST) Regency, South Kalimantan, sentenced seven years and six months in prison MN (15) accused of murder of fellow MF students (21) in one of the Islamic boarding schools.

"Declaring that MN's child is legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of premeditated murder as in the first indictment of subsidies," said Chief Justice Arum Kusuma Dewi accompanied by two member judges Maria Adinta Krispradani and Zefania Anggita Arumdani when reading the verdict in the courtroom of the Barabai District Court's children, HST, Friday, September 19.

The judge sentenced MN to 7 years and 6 months in prison at the Martapura Class I Child Special Development Institute (LPKA), Banjar Regency.

This decision is lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the HST Kejari, who previously demanded a sentence of 8 years in prison.

The judge also stipulated that the period of arrest and detention was reduced entirely by the sentence imposed, the perpetrators remained detained, and charged a case fee of Rp. 5,000.

The trial was attended by legal counsel for the perpetrators Bambang Supriadi and Syamsuri and their families, while the Public Prosecutor's Office of HST was represented by Mahendra Suganda and Mochamad Kemas Heryawan.

Regarding the decision, the Public Prosecutor stated that he was still considering further legal steps.

"We are still thinking about whether to file an appeal or not," said the prosecutor after the trial.

The perpetrator's legal adviser, Bambang also stated the same thing with the reason that he would first consult with his family.

"We will discuss it with the family first, whether to accept the verdict or to continue the appeal," said Bambang.

The panel of judges gave the two parties seven days to state their position regarding the decision.

It is known that this case began when HST residents were shocked by the incident when a student was stabbed to death by his colleague while sleeping on Wednesday (20/8) at around 03.00 WITA.

From the results of the examination, the motive for the murder was because the perpetrator felt hurt and the victim was often bullied and desperate to plan a murder with a sharp weapon in the form of a 27 centimeter machete with a width of four centimeters.
