SETARA Institute Says There Are 130 Problems In The Body Of The Police
JAKARTA - THE SETARA Institute said there were 130 'insected' problems within the National Police.
This was revealed by the Executive Director of the SETARA Institute, Haili Hasan through the results of a survey of 167 police experts to respond to the government's discourse on forming the National Police Reform Team.
"By surveying the views of 167 experts in the police field, all of whom are in general, if we list there are around 130 problems," said Haili in an online press conference, Friday, September 19.
Haili explained that these problems were summarized into 12 big themes that reflected structural and systemic challenges in the National Police institution.
Among them are the position of the National Police in the constitutional structure of the state, the supervisory performance of the Police, the accountability of law enforcement, the governance of detention houses and the protection of prisoners' rights, as well as the orientation of punishment and interpretation of public order.
"Then the use of firearms, protection and protection of the community, handling terrorism, function of public services, education of the National Police, human resources organizations and management, and relations between institutions," he explained.
"And from the 12 themes, there are actually so many challenges," added Haili.

Haili said that the SETARA survey also showed a low public perception of the performance of the Police.
As many as 61.6 percent of experts rate public trust in the Police as not good, while only 16.8 percent said well.
"In terms of law enforcement integrity, 58.7 percent of respondents said they were not good, and only 16.6 percent considered it good," he said.
