Found Online Gambling, 90 Jambi City Residents Crossed Out Of PKH Recipients List

JAMBI - Jambi City Social Service (Dinsos) crossed out beneficiary families (KPM) of the Family Hope Program (PKH) who were caught using assistance for online gambling activities.

Head of the Jambi City Social Service, Yunita Indrawati, said that up to now, 90 KPM PKHs have been crossed out from the list of recipients because they are indicated to be involved in online gambling.

"We don't provide social assistance anymore for those who have been crossed out, so they are not misused, especially for gambling," he said in Jambi, Antara, Friday, September 19.

According to Yunita, beneficiaries have been reminded to avoid online gambling practices before sanctions are imposed. The policy will be implemented actively in Jambi City in 2025 according to national regulations.

Based on data from the Jambi City Social Service, out of a total of 24,000 KPM PKH, as many as 90 recipients were detected doing online gambling activities, either through children, partners, or family heads.

The rights of beneficiaries are revoked if the person or member of the family registered in one family card is found playing online gambling. The data was obtained through the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) which monitors financial behavior, including the use of pay laters and consumptive loans that exceed the economic capacity.

"Those who are proven to be actively involved are automatically eliminated from the recipient data because they are considered no longer categorized as underprivileged families," said Yunita.

Currently, PKH assistance is only given to residents who are included in decile 1 to decile 4 with an aid value of IDR 400,000 for children and the elderly who are distributed every three months.

The Jambi City Social Service reminded the public to prioritize basic needs and not to be trapped in a consumptive lifestyle or show off habits that can trigger involvement in online gambling.

“Kami juga meminta orang tua mewaspadai keterlibatan anak yang sering bermula dari game online yang bisa menjadi pintu masuk menuju praktik judi,” katanya.

"We also ask parents to be aware of the involvement of children which often start from online games which can be an entry point towards gambling practices," he said.
