Rich Investors In Indonesia Are Starting To Consider Crypto As A Long-Term Asset
JAKARTA - HSBC's latest report titled Affluent Investor Snapshot 2025: A Quality of Life Special Report which recorded a share of crypto investment in Indonesia rose to 8% in 2025, an increase of 2 percentage points compared to last year.
This report, which is based on a survey of 10,797 rich investors in 12 countries, including 547 respondents from Indonesia, shows that the interest of rich investors in the country in crypto assets is increasing.
According to the report, Gen Z and Millennials played a major role in driving this new trend. They are considered more daring to take risks and open up to innovative instruments such as digital gold, multi-asset solutions, to private market funds.
Tokocrypto CEO, Calvin Kizana, sees this shift in preference as a sign that Indonesian investors are starting to see crypto as not just speculation, but part of a portfolio diversification strategy.
The tendency of rich investors to place crypto among gold and traditional instruments shows a change in paradigm. They now think digital assets have long-term potential, especially in the midst of global uncertainty," he said.
In addition, the increasing interest of rich investors in crypto is also driven by the growing clarity of regulations. Supervision of crypto assets under the OJK is seen as capable of providing certainty and a sense of security.

With the crypto portion continuing to rise, this trend is expected to be stronger along with the entry of new products such as crypto ETF, real asset tokenization, to Web3-based investment solutions.
