Celebrate Creativity, Innovation, And Collaboration At Indonesia Design Week 2025
JAKARTA - Indonesia Design Week (IDW), the flagship event from Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2, will be held again on September 12 20, 2025. For nine days, IDW was present as a celebration of design, arts, and architecture, as well as a collaborative ecosystem that brings together designers, architects, and the cross-disciplinary creative community.
As the largest design and furniture center in Indonesia, IDD PIK2 aims to be a catalyst for creativity by presenting an inclusive space that actively connects industry players, encourages collaboration, and supports the sustainability of the development of the design sector. In line with this vision, IDW is present as a platform that brings together local and international perspectives, while at the same time affirming the role of design as a universal language that unites ideas, communities, and cross-border culture.
This year, IDW 2025 carries the theme Ideantity a term that represents ideas and identity, encourages the design community to rediscover and strengthen Indonesia's unique character through design works. Ideantity reflects on Indonesia's increasingly important work in the world design landscape no longer just as a consumer, but as an active contributor.
Like big cities like Milan, London, and Tokyo that have built heritage through their design week, IDW is here to offer a fresh perspective rooted in regional contexts, cultural wealth, and openness to global dialogue.
IDW 2025 is supported by BNI as an official banking partner, which provides visitors with easy access to non-cash payments and convenient transactions throughout the event. This event was also sponsored by Snaidero, Smeg, Kohler, and Bosch, who emphasized the increasingly important role of Indonesia not only as a design destination, but also as an innovative collaborator in the global arena.
In addition to brands collaboration, IDW is also a platform for local designers and creative collectives to present inspiring exhibitions, express identity, spark dialogue, as well as challenge conventional design boundaries. This exhibition highlights the experimental and conceptual aspects of Indonesia's creativity, while strengthening Indonesia's position as a center of design perspective that continues to grow.
In addition, IDW facilitates collaboration through a series of typical programs, one of which is Design Dialogues guided by Design Anthology at Market Hall. This program not only invites visitors to understand the dynamics of global designs, but also involves them directly in international conversations that shape the future of design.
This year, IDW 2025 will be even more special with a series of flagship events. One of the most anticipated is the presence of Alva Griffin, the founder of SaloneSatellite, who will share inspiration through a special dialogue session at MM Gallery, IDD PIK2. Marva's presence at IDW is also part of a series of Italian Design Week events supported by the Italian Embassy, ITA (Italian Trade Agency), and IIC (Istituto Italiano in Cultura). Also present at the IDW event, Laura Kohler as Chief Sustainability & DEI Officer of KOHLER Co., which will share insights about sustainability in the design industry.
In addition to the dialogue design series, this year's IDW was also enlivened by an installation design exhibition located at Townhall IDD PIK2. Here, visitors can enjoy various cross-disciplinary exhibitions, collaborations from various well-known brands such as the SMEG x Macan Museum, Milimeter Manifesto, Mamagreen Installation, AHEC x Studio Hendro, Kohler Installation, Viro x Tulola, Manawa Lighting Installation, and ICAD By The Bay Pop Up.
Adding to the wealth of the exhibition lineup, the IM PAX Sustainability Project also presents two installations made from tofu waste and wood waste, reflecting its commitment to sustainability and creative utilization, which transforms everyday waste into impactful design works.
With the same spirit to raise awareness as well as open space for dialogue, IDW not only displays sustainable installation works, but also presents educational programs targeting the younger generation. The exclusive IDW 2025 tour is intended for various universities in Indonesia as a forum for learning and exploration that expands students' insights into the dynamics of the design world.
Not only that, IDW 2025 will be even more lively with the presence of the Firm Office Grand Prix, namely the first office seat racing event in Indonesia which combines creativity, sportsmanship and entertainment. After the success of its inaugural implementation, this unique competition was again held as a form of how the design can be presented in a fun, interactive way, as well as strengthening a sense of togetherness.
Meanwhile, visitors can also enjoy the beautiful atmosphere at Sports & WellnessClubhouse located at the Market Hall. Designed by Bobos and Dzha, this space is equipped with a padel field as well as a spatial and interior that combines natural elements with contemporary touch. This Clubhouse is also a dynamic space that presents harmony between creativity, fitness, and modern lifestyle, thus making IDW's experience even more complete.
For art lovers, IDW 2025 presents ICAD By The Bay Vol.03, a collaboration show between Indonesia Contemporary Art & Design (ICAD), Emporium Marble, and Saniharto. More than 60 cross-disciplinary artists participated in this exhibition, with the main highlight in the form of an exclusive collaboration between Saniharto and Ghea Fashion Studio which launched a collection of household appliances that combine legacy craft expertise with a touch of modern aesthetics.
Turning to Mandapa, visitors can explore Artist Alley, a craft market and which presents 51 artists and artist brands. This program not only celebrates Indonesia's creative heritage wealth, but also encourages the growth of MSMEs by providing space for local products to perform and be known more widely. In line with IDW's commitment to bring a wider impact, this year a Sip & Tip event was held presented by Bika & Friends. In this program, brand designers and owners went directly back to the bar to serve food and drinks, while all accumulated tips will be channeled to the community.
In addition, IDW also participated in other social programs through the collaboration between Indonesia Design District (IDD) PIK2 and Community Development ASG in the Home Renovation initiative, where several IDD tenants Toto, Juno, Bika, and Sleep&Co contributed by donating furniture to people in need.
Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2025 is supported by the Ministry of Creative Economy (EKRAF) together with international and national media partners such as Design Anthology, Dezeen, Indonesia Design, Archinesia, and the MRA Group. This support reflects the commitment to raise Indonesia's design standards while encouraging sustainable industrial growth.
