Take A Peek At The TNI AD's Plan: Advanced Drones Will Help Soldiers And The Community

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Army (AD) plans to use unmanned aircraft or drones to support the operation of soldiers in the field, including logistics delivery to the area of operation.

Head of the Army Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Wahyu Yudhayana said his party was exploring the use of drones to support the duties of soldiers and help the community.

"It is being explored how we carry out operational relations related to dropping logistics for troops and to help people use drones," Wahyu said when met at the Army Headquarters, Central Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, September 18.

According to Wahyu, the use of drones for military operations is considered more effective in terms of energy and time, as well as reducing the potential for casualties on the battlefield.

In addition to sending logistics, drone technology can also be used for military operations other than war (OMSP), such as helping the evacuation of disasters to finding victims on terrain that is difficult for humans to reach.

When asked about the type of drone to be used, Wahyu could not provide certainty. However, he said the Indonesian Army had explored several foreign products, including the Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV) made by Baykar, Turkey.

"We are still in the exploration stage," he said.
