The Majority Of The Provincial Capital Is Forecasted To Rain On September 18
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts weather conditions in most provincial capitals in Indonesia to rain light to rain accompanied by lightning on Thursday, September 18.
Starting from Sumatra Island, Padang City has the potential for smoke or fog, while Banda Aceh is predicted to be cloudy.
"It is predicted that light rain will occur in Pekanbaru, Medan City has the potential to rain with moderate intensity, and be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in Tanjung Pinang," he said, quoted by ANTARA.
Still on the island of Sumatra, Jambi City is forecasted to be thick cloudy, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, and Bandar Lampung with light rain, as well as rain accompanied by lightning in the Bengkulu area.
Turning to Java Island, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Yogyakarta, thick cloudy in Surabaya, as well as light rain in Serang, Bandung, and Semarang cities.
"Be aware of thunderstorms that have the potential to occur in Jakarta," said Apdillah.
Then shifted to the areas of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, Kupang City is predicted to be cloudy, while Denpasar and Mataram have the potential to rain with light intensity.
Moving to Kalimantan Island, the weather is predicted to be cloudy in Pontianak, while light rain has the potential to occur in Samarinda and Palangka Raya.
"Be aware of thunderstorms that can occur in Tanjung Selor and Banjarmasin," he said.
Then, moving to Sulawesi Island, the weather is forecasted to be thick cloudy in Gorontalo, Makassar, and Kendari, while Palu and Manado have the potential for light rain. Mamuju City is forecasted to rain with moderate intensity.

Meanwhile, for Eastern Indonesia, the weather in the majority of major cities is forecast for light rain, such as in the areas of Ternate, Ambon, Manokwari, Nabire, Jayapura, and Jayawijaya, while the cities of Sorong and Merauke have the potential to rain with moderate intensity.
The BMKG also warned the public to be aware of waves of 2.5-4 meters high in the West Indian Ocean from Aceh to Lampung, the southern Sunda Strait, the southern Indian Ocean from Banten to East Java, as well as the southern Indian Ocean from Bali to West Nusa Tenggara.
