Khalid Basalamah Called The KPK Leaked The Material For The Investigation Of The Hajj Quota Corruption After Revealing The Return Of Money

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) revealed that the preacher and owner of Uhud Tour, Khalid Zeed Abdullah or Khalid Basalamah, leaked the investigation material.

This was conveyed by the KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo when asked about Khalid Basalamah's refund. According to him, this information should not be submitted to the public because investigators are verifying.

"Actually, it is investigative material that we should not be able to convey in detail," Budi told reporters at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Wednesday, September 17.

Budi said the KPK was still keeping information on Khalid's refund because it would be announced at the announcement of the suspect.

"So, we also have not been able to convey the details of the amount, then what kind of technical return, from anywhere, whether only from the witness concerned is there from the other parties," he said.

"Later on, we will certainly convey when we convey the investigation update, including updates on the parties responsible and designated as suspects," continued Budi.

Khalid Basalamah conveyed that he returned the money related to the corruption case of quotas and the implementation of Hajj in 2023-2024 when he was present on a podcast that was broadcast on YouTube. He also conveyed various information related to his examination by the KPK on September 9.

Including the question of his departure and hundreds of worshipers to the Holy Land using a special hajj quota which turned out to be problematic.

Meanwhile, after undergoing an examination at the anti-corruption commission office, Khalid admitted that he was examined by the KPK as a witness because he left as a congregation along with hundreds of other people. He had admitted that along with hundreds of other people, he initially departed using a furoda hajj visa.

However, he shifted to a special pilgrimage whose quota turned out to be problematic because he received an offer from Ibnu Masud who is a Commissioner of PT Muhibbah Mulia Wisata. Khalid also claimed that Uhud Tour could not dispatch pilgrims because it was not a travel agent or travel agent for special Hajj organizers (PIHK).

"The language is Ibnu Masud to us, PT Muhibbah (can, red) an additional quota of 20,000 from the Ministry of Religion. Because we received an official discussion from the Ministry of Religion and I was registered as a congregation at PT Muhibbah," he told reporters, Tuesday, September 9.

Previously reported, the KPK said that allegations of corruption related to quotas and the implementation of Hajj in 2023-2024 at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) would enter a new chapter. In the near future, the suspects will be announced because the process is running using a general investigation warrant (sprindik).

This case stems from the provision of 20,000 additional Hajj quotas from the Saudi Arabian government for Indonesia to reduce queues for pilgrims. However, the distribution turned out to be problematic because it was divided equally, namely 50 percent for regular Hajj and 50 percent for special Hajj based on the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Religion signed by Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

In fact, based on the law, the distribution should be 92 percent for regular Hajj and 8 percent for special Hajj.

Later, the distribution of problems was allegedly due to money from the Hajj and Umrah travel parties as well as the associations that oversee the Ministry of Religion. After getting the allotment, they sold the additional quota to prospective pilgrims.
