Trump Visits UK To Bring Technology Investment Of IDR 689.9 Trillion, Here Are The Details
JAKARTA - United States (US) President Donald Trump brought investment on his visit to the UK with a total value of 42 billion US dollars or around Rp. 689.9 trillion.
The investment value is a follow-up to the fulfillment of the promises of US tech giants to help boost the UK's artificial intelligence or AI sector.
On the one hand, the UK and US governments agreed to cooperate in the field of nuclear and space technology as part of the "Technological Prosperity Agreement".
Citing AFP, Wednesday, September 17, the following is a list of major UK-US deals on Trump's visit listed in a joint statement published by the UK government and companies.
Microsoft
The company's biggest commitment to Britain includes an investment of US$30 billion over four years, half of which will be spent on cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
This includes plans to build the UK's largest supercomputer.
"We are committed to creating new opportunities for society and business on both sides of the Atlantic, and to ensure America remains a trusted and reliable technology partner for Britain," said Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.
"That's why we are doubling our investment in the UK."
The search engine giant plans to invest in the UK USD 6.8 billion over the next two years to support its AI development in the UK. It is said to help strengthen cybersecurity and create 8,250 jobs each year.
Nvidia, Stargate UK
British company Nscale has partnered with Chat-GPT producer OpenAI and chip giant Nvidia to build the UK version of Stargate a large-scale AI infrastructure initiative.
The UK government says the project aims to "develop platforms designed to implement OpenAI technology on sovereign infrastructure in the UK."
In collaboration with British companies, Nvidia pledged to implement a total of 120,000 advanced GPU chips across the country, which is its biggest launch in Europe.
Banking
Bank of America, BlackRock, Citi Group, PayPal, and S&P Global are jointly investing around 1.75 billion to develop their operations in the UK.
Nuclear
The UK-US plans to accelerate the development of a new nuclear power plant project.
"This golden age of nuclear is at the heart of the government's mission to build more clean energy domestically to ensure energy resilience," the UK Government said in a statement.
Government Partnership
The two countries plan to "drive AI-based health care solutions in various fields such as precision treatment and chronic disease."
Britain and the US also plan to partner in "a revolutionary quantum computer and accelerate the application of this technology in areas such as healthcare, defense and finance."
NASA and the British Space Agency intend to develop an AI model to support science and exploration missions.
