Used By Javier Bardem At The 2025 Emmy Awards, What Does Keffiyeh Mean?
JAKARTA - Actor Javier Bardem stole the show by appearing wearing a keffiyeh at the 2025 Emmy Awards. While appearing on the red carpet of the event, Javier emphasized that he did not support and work with people who contributed to genocide in Gaza, Palestine.
"Today I condemn genocide in Gaza," said Javier Bardem, quoted from Variety, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
In his appearance at the event, the keffiyeh that Javier was wearing was used as a scarf. It appears that the white, gray, black, green, and red keffiyeh is wrapped around his neck.
Keffiyeh is the only accessory to complete Javier's all-black clothes, consisting of shirts, suits, material pants, and leather shoes.
Quoted from the Hindustian Times, keffiyeh is a typical Arabic head covering, which is historically worn by members of the nomad community known as bedouin. Usually, keffiyeh is made of cotton, and is arranged to form a certain pattern.
