Last Day Of Search For Victims Of The NTT Nagekeo Flash Flood, Total 5 People Died

The joint SAR team stopped searching for the missing victims due to flash floods in Sawu Village, Maudonggo District, Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

He added that the decision was taken in an evaluation meeting with Basarnas Maumere, TNI-Polri, local governments, and families of victims at the disaster site.

There were as many as four missing victims in the flash flood incident that occurred on Monday, September 8.

The termination of the SAR operation refers to Law Number 29 of 2014 concerning Search and Rescue. The regulation states that SAR operations are carried out for seven days, and if seven days the victim has not been found, the SAR operation will be stopped or officially closed.

"But we from Basarnas will continue to monitor if there are signs of casualties. Basarnas will resume the search," he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the search for victims would be carried out independently by TNI-Polri personnel and the local government.

Previously, the joint SAR team found a 14-month-old boy, Achiles Agustinus Busa Jago, in a state of death on the third day of searching for flood victims in Nagekeo Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Thursday, September 11.

"The victim was found about two kilometers from his house at coordinates 852'55.26" S - 12112'50.89 "E is dead," said Head of the Maumere Basarnas Office, Fathur Rahman.

The victim, who is a resident of Sawu Village, Mauponggo District, was then evacuated to the joint post before being handed over to his family.

With the discovery of Achiles, the number of victims who died due to flash floods in Nagekeo increased to five people.
