Albania Appoints Bot AI As Minister For Corruption Eradication

JAKARTA - Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama has appointed a Minister produced by an artificial intelligence bot (AI) to eradicate corruption in his country.

The AI Ministry, named Diella, was originally introduced as a virtual assistant on the country's e-Albania platform in January.

On the platform, Diella has been helping them through voice commands with various bureaucratic tasks they need to do to access about 95% of citizens' services digitally.

"Diella, the first cabinet member to not physically attend, but has been created virtually by AI, will help make Albania a country where public tenders are 100% corruption-free", said Edi Rama quoting The Guardian.

Diella will be a public procurement servant. Where to determine the winner of the public tender will be gradually transferred from the government ministry to the AI system, to ensure all public spending in the tender process is 100% clear.

Rama also said that Diella would examine any tenders involving the government in contracts with private companies and objectively assess the benefits of each tender.

However, there are no further details regarding human scrutiny of what Diella might do, or discuss the risk that a person can manipulate an artificial intelligence bot.
