The Jambi' Palembang Toll Road Is Speeded, The Target Is Connected To Lampung In 2028

JAKARTA - The construction of the Jambi 'Palembang toll road continues to be prepared as part of the Trans Sumatra toll road network. The presence of this section is expected to facilitate the flow of inter-regional transportation, cut travel times, and encourage economic growth along the Jambi to Palembang corridors.

The government and the DPR RI are currently overseeing the development process so that it runs according to the target, including in terms of funding and land acquisition.

The leadership of the State Financial Accountability Agency (BAKN) of the DPR RI said that the toll road in Jambi to Lampung will be fully connected in 2028.

"The construction of this interconnection has been designed for a long time, it has begun to see developments. Including today we inaugurate the toll road in Jambi (Tempino-Sp Ness)," said Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian House of Representatives BAKN Herman Khairon in Jambi, as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, it is not easy to fight for the Trans Sumatra Toll Road. It is necessary to be serious about all parties guarding the program, including capital participation for the basis for the construction of expressways.

By inaugurating the Ness Intersection Toll Gate, the public can now use two toll gates in Jambi as a means of avoiding congestion in Jambi City.

Herman emphasized that BAKN is pushing for the acceleration of the construction of the Jambi-Palembang toll road. Thus, if the project is completed, the public can take advantage of the toll road from Jambi to Lampung.

The toll road is expected to be able to shorten the transportation of people, goods and services, so as to increase movement and economic growth, especially on the island of Sumatra.

Financing the construction of toll roads requires a large amount of money by using the state capital participation scheme. In the future, toll road projects will involve the Indonesian Anagata Nusantara (Danantara) Power Investment Management Agency.

Currently, the Indonesian House of Representatives is preparing a strategy and mechanism with Danantara regarding the financing for the construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road.

He hopes that Danantara's participation will be able to realize the construction of the toll road, including the Jambi-Regat section.

The government and the DPR RI are waiting for the joint scheme of Waskita Karya, Wijaya Karya and Hutama Karya to work on strategic projects including toll roads.

"Still waiting for how the business unit will be merged first, in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto's direction," he said.

Member of Commission V DPR RI Bakri said the Jambi-Rengat Toll Road is being fought for. The problems currently being faced are still struggling with budget constraints and land acquisition.

In the future, by involving Danantara, he hopes that the construction of toll roads can be continued to improve infrastructure and encourage the growth of new economic centers in Sumatra.

"We hope that Danantara can finance this toll road (Jambi-Rengat). We are trying to continue," he said.
