Rabies Cases Increase In Bangkok, Tourists Are Asked To Be Careful

JAKARTA - The government of Bangkok, Thailand, issued rabies warnings for a number of areas in the city, which have become many tourist destinations. This was done because cases of sudden rabies were increasing in Bangkok.

Quoted from The Strait Times, on Sunday, September 14, 2025, authorities stated that rabies-confirmed stray dogs were found in 11 Bangkok districts, as well as in the area around Samut Prakan. Residents and tourists are asked to be careful and avoid contact with the animal.

If you are bitten, stabbed, or in close contact with a dog suspected of being rabies, immediately seek medical help to get a rebuttal vaccination, an official appeal from the Bangkok government.

It is also recommended for tourists to keep up with the development of rabies-related vaccinations. Especially for those who plan to visit areas with a high level of rabies risk.

Not only that, it is also recommended to know the symptoms of animals experiencing rabies in order to avoid contact with these animals.

Symptoms of rabies in animals include excessive saliva, aggression, or unusual behavior such as lethargic and confusion. Any animal showing these symptoms should be avoided or reported to local authorities for follow-up.

Meanwhile, until now there have been no cases of human rabies infection in Bangkok. However, this must remain vigilant because so far seven people have reportedly died from rabies in six provinces in Thailand.

As a control measure, Thailand's Department of Livestock designated Bangkok and Samut Prakan as temporary disease control zones until October 8.
