Trump Will Meet Qatar PM After Israel's Attack On Doha

JAKARTA - US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Prime Minister of Qatar in New York on Friday. The meeting was held days after US ally Israel attacked Hamas leaders in Doha.

Reported by Reuters on Friday, September 12, White House officials did not specify the timing of the meeting with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani or his agenda.

Israel attempted to kill Hamas political leaders with an attack in Qatar on Tuesday.

Serangan terburuk berisiko mengahkan upaya yang didukung AS untuk mediasi batu senjata di Gaza dan mengakhiri konflik yang telah berlangsung hampir dua tahun.

Israel's attacks were widely condemned, in the Middle East and its surroundings as an act that could escalate tensions in already tense areas.

Trump said he was unhappy with the Israeli attacks, which he described as unilateral actions that did not advance US or Israeli interests.

Washington regards Qatar as a strong ally in the Gulf. Qatar has been the main mediator in long negotiations for the ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza, the release of Israeli hostages detained in Gaza, and a post-conflict plan for the region.

Al-Thani blamed Israel for trying to sabotage peace opportunities, but said Qatar would not be hindered from its role as a mediator.

Qatari leaders will also meet, opening a new tab US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, State Department said late Thursday.
